SYNARC Expands PET Capabilities

Newark, California – February 14, 2012 – SYNARC, the world's largest imaging core lab dedicated to clinical trials, announced today that Gregory Klein Ph.D., has joined SYNARC to advance the company's PET (Positron Emission Tomography) capabilities for clinical trials.

A nuclear medicine imaging technique that produces a three-dimensional image, PET is increasingly used in clinical development programs for oncology, neurology and cardiovascular diseases. The main advantage of PET imaging is its ability to augment the structural information available from MRI and CT scans with functional data at the molecular and cellular level. Having worked in PET quantification for more than 12 years at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory where he developed image and data processing algorithms for novel PET and SPECT imaging devices, Dr. Klein is a well-regarded expert in the field of PET imaging. Previously in his career, Dr. Klein served as CEO of QuantifiCare Inc., an imaging CRO.

"Sponsors are increasingly using PET and SPECT imaging in their clinical development programs," stated Aaron Timm, Head of Synarc. "SYNARC is excited for Greg to join our team of experts and advance our offering in PET imaging analysis for clinical trials."
