Founder of the Center for Clinical and Basic Research (CCBR) Featured in Amgen's Annual Report  

Claus Christiansen, M.D. cited for his work in clinical trials regarding osteoporosis

San Francisco - March 12, 2007 - Claus Christiansen, M.D., a co-founder of  Synarc, the world's largest provider of centralized imaging services to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry, is featured in Amgen's 2005 annual report for his leadership role in enrolling 2,500 patients in denosumab phase 3 clinical trials for osteoporosis.

Through the Center for Clinical and Basic Research (CCBR) in Denmark, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Synarc, Dr. Christiansen was instrumental in enrolling the patients from 10 different countries in the denosumab program, which is Amgen's largest development program to date.

"Osteoporosis is a serious medical condition for which patients have few options for long-term treatment," said Dr. Christiansen in the Amgen annual report. "We are thrilled to participate in a clinical trial that could potentially lead to another therapeutic choice for this debilitating condition."

Dr. Christiansen is a co-founder of Synarc and originally established the CCBR foundation. Since he was a medical student, Dr. Christiansen has been involved in research, and this activity was intensified when he became the chairman of the Department of Clinical Pathology and Clinical Chemistry at one of the major university hospitals in the Copenhagen area.
