Michael W. Weiner, M.D.
Scientific Expert, Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia


Michael W. Weiner, M.D., serves as a Science Expert, Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia and a member of the Synarc Scientific Advisory Board. He currently receives no financial compensation from Synarc. He has previously held the position of Medical Director, Neurology at Synarc.

Dr. Weiner is a board-certified internist with more than 30 years experience in medical research and magnetic resonance imaging and spectroscopy. He trained at Johns Hopkins and Yale Universities, and has been on the faculty of the University of Wisconsin, Stanford, and University of California San Francisco.

Dr. Weiner was one of the first scientists to perform magnetic resonance studies of intact animals and has pioneered use of MR imaging and spectroscopy in neurological diseases. He has over 300 scientific publications and over 400 presentations at scientific meetings. He currently also directs the Magnetic Resonance Unit at UCSF, which has over $14 million in research funding and 65 employees. Dr. Weiner has also served on numerous boards and scientific review groups. He is the winner of the Young Investigator Award of the American College of Cardiology, and was awarded a VA Clinical Investigator Award.
