Joyce Suhy, Ph.D.
 Scientific Director,
Neurology Clinical Trials Services

Dr. Joyce Suhy, Ph.D., Scientific Director of our Neurology Program, has been working in the field of Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Spectroscopy since 1992 and managed dozens of clinical trials within the past decade. Dr. Suhy has authored numerous journal articles and book chapters in the neurology and oncology therapeutic areas. She leads the design and technical oversight of clinical trials managed by Synarc and provides training to Synarc staff involved in these studies. Dr. Suhy has also participated on several expert panels to advance the use of imaging in clinical trials.

Previously, Dr. Suhy was a Project Manager of Clinical Research at Synarc. She was responsible for facilitating procedures and services associated with oncology, osteoporosis and neurology studies. She designed multi-center international studies and managed activities such as QA reviews, image assessments, system development, and radiological  data management.

Prior to Synarc, Dr. Suhy was a Clinical Research Specialist at SurroMed, Inc. and was responsible for the development, design, modification, and evaluation of a standard protocol design process to initiate a program in multiple sclerosis. Dr. Suhy was also a teaching assistant and instructor at Loyola University Chicago and Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois.

Dr. Joyce Suhy is a recipient of many honors and grant awards including the Co-principal investigator NIH RO1 Grant, Principal Investigator NIH National Research Service Award and the Principal Investigator National MS Society Fellowship. She received her Ph.D. in Biochemistry at Loyola University Chicago, Chicago, IL. She completed her post-doctoral Research Fellowship in the Department of Radiology at the University of California San Francisco, San Francisco, CA. Her focus was on utilizing magnetic resonance spectroscopy and imaging to quantify metabolites within defined regions of the human brain as a method to diagnose and predict the onset of neurodegenerative diseases such as epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
