Kornelia Martin, Ph.D. is Manager of Scientific Client Services at Synarc. Previously she worked in a neuroradiology department at a research institute for
oncology as well as at a large pharmaceutical/medical company. She also has an
academic background in human biology, oncology and cellular therapy.
Prior to joining Synarc, Dr. Martin was a Sales Manager and Technical
Specialist at Baxter Oncology, Cellular Therapy. Her regional responsibility
included Austria, Switzerland, Eastern Europe and Rest of the World. In Austria,
she initiated and coordinated preclinical and clinical trials for stem cell
therapy in cardio-vascular diseases and for organ repair approaches. She was
also scientifically involved in several studies for tumor vaccination therapies
using dendritic cells.
Dr. Martin was awarded her Ph.D. in Human Biology from Philipps University
Marburg. She has authored numerous scientific speeches and abstracts focused on
new prognostic and predictive factors in breast cancer. Today the techniques she
implemented for the quantification and classification of the HER-2/neu gene copy
number and the sequencing of the p53 tumor suppressor gene are well established
and routinely used for the risk assessment in breast cancer patients at the
Department of Oncological Chemistry, Heinrich-Heine University Düsseldorf.
