Senior General Ledger Accountant

Position Description:
This position will work closely with the Assistant Controller to ensure month-end close occurs efficiently and with a high quality. Specific duties will include balance sheet and profit and loss account reconciliations such as bank, fixed assets, prepaid accounts, accrued liabilities, capital, etc. A solid understanding of accounting concepts and principles is necessary. Additional duties will be project profitability reporting, cost analysis and ad hoc projects including increasing the use of GL functionality.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts during month end.
- Participate in corporate consolidation of international units.
- Participate in major upgrade of Cost Point general ledger.
- Maintain organization, chart of accounts and project codes.
- Work closely with financial planning and business development teams to develop cost models for pricing purposes.
- Help Assistant Controller implement fixed asset and other general ledger functionality.
- Perform ad hoc analysis and reporting.
- Research accounting issues as they arise and provide summary of issues and recommendations.
Required Experience, Skills & Training:
- 3+ years experience in accounting roles.
- Strong understanding of accounting process and controls.
- Experience with a project ledger system such as Deltek Cost Point a plus
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multi task and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
- Bachelors Degree or higher in Accounting, CPA preferred.
